Because she was so attentive, observant, and proactive with the baby, I actually got to rest. I felt safe enough to sleep because I knew my daughter was in good hands. I’m deeply grateful for her, and I would recommend her to any parent who wants someone alert, gentle, and proactive to support their family."— Kanika B.

FAQ

➤ What’s the difference between a doula and midwife?Midwives are healthcare personnel and childbirth experts who provide medical care to pregnant women and their babies. A doula is a non-medical care provider who assists in care before, during, after birth, and even in loss. Like midwives, doulas provide pre- and post-natal education and can assist in home births, however a doula’s role is to facilitate medical self-advocacy, and the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of the families they serve.

➤ How can a doula support me if I am bottle feeding?
Doula can provide support on best practices for bottle feeding, pumping, and maintaining milk supply. Your doula can also bottle feed for you at night, or wake you to bottle feed. Your doula can troubleshoot feeding issues with you and recommend lactation consultation resources if further support is required.

➤ How does scheduling work?
During the daytime, we offer support for a minimum of 4 hours and up to 8 hours between the hours of 8AM and 8PM.
During the nighttime, we offer support for a minimum of 8 hours and up to 10 hours between the hours of 10PM to 6AM.

➤ What happens if my doula is sick?
We will do our best to find a trustworthy certified substitute doula for the missed shift(s), or the shift(s) can be moved to a different day of the family’s choosing with no additional charge.

➤ When should I hire a doula?
You can hire a doula anytime. Doulas typically work with a family from birth up until their newborn is about 3-4 months old, or when they no longer need doula assistance. You can also hire your doula before you give birth!

➤ Does our doula sleep during her night shift?
Your doula must be provided a resting area in the nursery or common area where she will be monitoring the baby. Similarly to the caregivers, the doula might rest while the baby sleeps, once the nightly chores are complete.

➤ What tasks does our doula do overnight?
Your doula can do tasks such as: baby laundry, light tidying/cleaning, diaper changing and more!

➤ What tasks does our doula do during the day?
Your doula can do tasks such as: running errands, minding baby while you nap/shower/self-care, bellybinding assistance, and more!

➤ What areas do you serve?
We serve families residing in the Greater Toronto Area
